Node to surface contact-slave node不能穿透master surface,但是master node可以穿透slave surface,因此的分析中,analytic surface是设为master,可以穿透slave surface. Surface to surface contact-程式自动均匀化了slave surface,因此虽然有可能出现穿透,但是不会发生非常大或者沒有预测到的master surface穿透到slave surface. 总言之,surface to surface在处理contact问题时对于master与slave surface限定沒有那么严格,比较容易收敛,在一般的題目中也能得到比较准确的答案,但缺点是花费的时间较长.但还是有例外,特別是圆孔圆柱interference fit的问题,如果圆孔的node与圆柱不是相对应的,那么surface to surface contact会出现较大的差异;不过圆孔的node与圆柱的是相对应的,surface to surface contact还是能得到较佳的结果
